Yang scores game-winner, assists another as Celtic rescue lead over rivals Rangers

Substitute Yang Hyun-Joon scores a crucial winner for Celtic.

Celtic came from behind to beat Motherwell 3-1 in the 27th round of the 2023-24 Scottish Premiership (SPFL) at Fir Park Stadium in Motherwell, Scotland, on Friday afternoon (ET). With 65 points, Celtic moved into second place in the table, two points behind rivals Rangers (67).

With Yang Hyun-joon and Oh Hyun-kyu on the bench, Celtic used a Japanese attacking lineup centered around Furuhashi Kyogo and Maeda Daizen to attack Motherwell.

Celtic came out strong and attacked Motherwell from the start. They started the attack in the second minute with a shot from Thayer. Motherwell continued to play a counter-attacking game, trying to get at Celtic. In the 12th minute, Bale's right-footed shot was saved by the keeper.

In the 34th minute, Furuhashi latched onto McGregor's pass and fired a right-footed shot that was saved by the keeper. Motherwell responded in the 43rd minute when Lennon Miller broke away from defender pressure on the right side of the penalty area before crossing for Blair Spittal to find the back of the net.

Johnstone played the ball straight into the penalty area, where Ida found the back of the net with his left foot. It was Yang who set up the winning goal.

One more goal followed. Yang sent in a low cross from the right side of the penalty area that Palma headed home to complete the scoring. Yang's introduction definitely powerballsite changed the game.
