Hubspot and Outgrow Integration

Use Outgrow content pieces that are designed for conversion and engagement and push the leads you have collected to HubSpot using our Outgrow-HubSpot integration.

Here's what you will need to get started:

  • An Outgrow account.
  • A valid HubSpot account with API access.
  • A live Outgrow content piece

Steps for Configuring Integration

  1. To start the configuration process you need to navigate to the Configure tab in your Outgrow builder dashboard. Click the Configure button on HubSpot Integration.
  1. Click on Authenticate With HubSpot button and then enter your HubSpot account credentials to authenticate the integration.

Note - Please ensure that pop-ups are enabled in your web browser to see the HubSpot account login page.

  1. Once your account is authenticated and you have selected an account for passing on leads, you can choose to Proceed with Contacts or Forms in order to move to the field mapping section.

Mapping Fields and Testing Connection

Clients with Freelancer and Essential plan subscription:

For Essentials or a Freelancer plan only lead generation fields from Outgrow will be mapped to the respective fields on HubSpot. All you need to do is to map fields and test the connection between Outgrow and HubSpot. On clicking Test Connection a test record will be pushed to HubSpot's contacts.

Clients with Business and Enterprise plan subscriptions:

Business and Enterprise plans allow you to choose multiple fields from both the apps, allowing you to send over data more than just the lead gen form details from Outgrow to HubSpot. Set up integration by mapping HubSpot's fields with fields from your Outgrow calculator or quiz.


Once you are done mapping the fields, we will push a test lead to HubSpot with sample values. If connection and mapping are successful you will see this test lead in your HubSpot contacts.


If your connection is successful you will see Active Status on HubSpot represented by the green checkmark, which indicates that new leads on your calculator or quiz will be sent to HubSpot.




In case you want to send Outgrow as the lead source from Outgrow to Hubspot, you can opt for either of the 2 options:

A. You should add Outgrow as an option in the Lead Source field in Hubspot. You can then map the Source field in Outgrow with the Lead Source field in Hubspot. NOTE: You need to make sure that the newly added label text in the Lead Source field is Outgrow only. This needs to be done as the text received by Hubspot is case-sensitive.

B. You can map the Source field in Outgrow with any single-line text type field in Hubspot.

More actions

Once the integration is configured and is active, you can navigate to the HubSpot block to see more actions that can be performed on HubSpot integration after it has been set up.

Re-configure- In case your HubSpot credentials have changed or you want to connect Outgrow with a different HubSpot account, then you will have to Reconfigure your HubSpot integration to continue getting Outgrow leads in your HubSpot account. If you have collected some leads on Outgrow but don't see them on HubSpot then you should definitely try to Reconfigure once to fix it yourself. View Mapping- If you need to go over which fields you have mapped to configure your Outgrow-HubSpot integration, you can click on view mapping. you can then toggle between tabs to view the mapping across all fields.

Task History- This contains the list of all the leads sent to HubSpot. The leads which are in queue to be synced will have status Waiting and those which have failed to sync due to some reason will be shown as Failed.

If due to some error in connection your leads from a calculator or quiz have not been sent to HubSpot then you can Sync the leads to your HubSpot account after re-configuring. All the leads which were not sent to your account will be sent to HubSpot when you sync. If for some reason, even after syncing you do not see your lead on your HubSpot account then reconfigure once and then Sync.


Deactivate- In case you don't want to send leads from a calculator or quiz to HubSpot, you can simply deactivate it.



For every Outgrow calculator or quiz you create you will have to activate or deactivate the integration from config section on the builder, in order to start or stop sending leads collected on Outgrow to HubSpot.

Some common issues faced by users while setting up Outgrow-HubSpot Integration

Over the years, we have come across some common issues that clients face quite often while setting up Outgrow-HubSpot integration. So, we have compiled all of them below in order to make the process easier for you-

Numerical field mismatch - This happens when you create a numerical field in your HubSpot account and try to map it with a question that is alphanumeric or string. So to avoid this, you need to make sure that both the field types are the same.

Dropdown field mismatch- While trying to map dropdown fields, it is important to keep the options the same in both Outgrow and HubSpot. In case of a mismatch, it will throw back an error.

Error with the Test Value column- The test values are set based on the field types of the questions. However, you should check the test values while mapping in order to confirm if they match the field types in your HubSpot account.

Limitation on access to Advanced integration- This problem arises when you access to standard integration only. In such a case, you can pass only the lead details like name, email, etc. to your HubSpot account. If you want to map more fields like questions, responses, etc., you will have to upgrade to a higher-level plan or get Advanced Integration for an additional cost.

Mapping the Email field is required- Almost every CRM tool has kept mapping the email field mandatory. Without the email, you can't identify lead data. So in order to set up an integration with HubSpot, mapping is the email field is absolutely necessary.
